Where organic tradition, timeless terroir, and heartfelt hospitality converge.

There are moments when a visit to a winery transcends the tasting room. When conversations stretch for hours, and the wines speak not just of flavor, but of family, land, and legacy. That’s exactly what happened when we visited Romanelli, nestled in the hills of Montefalco, Umbria.

We came for the wines, but left with something far more lasting: a connection - to the people, their story, and the land that cradles it all.

The Beginning: From Brothers to Legacy

Founded in 1978 by brothers Amedeo and Costantino Romanelli, the estate started as a humble dream. With just a few hectares of vines and olive trees, they cultivated not only crops but a philosophy: to farm with intention, to respect the land, and to never compromise authenticity.

Today, that dream lives on through Devis and Fabio Romanelli, the third generation of winemakers who continue to walk those same hills with the same care - only now, with deeper roots and broader vision.

The Romanelli Family

A Philosophy of Harmony

At Romanelli, organic farming isn’t a trend - it’s a way of life. Since the beginning, the family has practiced a closed-loop, regenerative approach, where 8 hectares of vineyards and 12 hectares of olive groves thrive side by side, enriching one another in perfect balance.

“We don’t force the land to give,” Devis told us. “We listen to it.”

This mindset carries into the cellar, where each wine is crafted from a single cru, allowing the distinct personality of each parcel to shine - no blending, no shortcuts. Just pure expression.

The Craftsmen: Devis and Fabio Romanelli

Devis and Fabio aren’t just winemakers; they are storytellersinnovators, and guardians of memory. Devis, especially, embodies this blend of tradition and curiosity. His revival of the ancient “vino maritato” practice - where Trebbiano Spoletino vines climb living maple trees - is a beautiful example of how old-world wisdom can inform modern ecological thinking.

The result? Le Tese, an amber-hued orange wine kissed with notes of honey, citrus, and wild herbs. It’s a wine that doesn't just taste good - it feels alive.

Beyond the Bottle

The Romanelli story doesn’t stop with wine. Their award-winning organic olive oil, cold-pressed within hours of harvest, is just as much a part of the family’s identity. It captures the intensity and freshness of Umbria, a region whose culinary soul is as vibrant as its landscapes.

More Than a Visit

During our visit, what struck us most wasn’t just the technical mastery or the breathtaking vineyards - it was the warmth. Sitting with Devis and Debora, sharing stories, we felt something rare: a sense of belonging. In that moment, we were not just visitors. We were part of the Romanelli story.

Taste the Legacy

At Romanelli, every vine is a thread in a larger tapestry - one woven with care, tradition, and heart.

Let their wines bring that story to your table.
