BERGAMASCA ROSSO IGP - BIO - LOMBARDIA

The essence of Le Corne Bergamasca Rosso IGP: an elegant and enveloping wine like a theater embracing its stage. A wine that tells the story of its land—solid and austere like its people—yet welcoming and generous. Take your time and let it evolve in the glass, allowing it to reveal its full story. A true masterpiece.

Grape variety

65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vineyards of origin

The ideal grapes for this wine are carefully selected from all the company’s vineyards at the Le Corne estate, located in the municipality of Grumello del Monte. These vineyards, perched on the hills above Grumello, benefit from excellent and constant ventilation, allowing for the perfect ripening of the bunches.

Soil: Of calcareous-clay nature, with fluvio-glacial sediments, this soil is ideal for viticulture. It ensures wines that are structured, fresh, and marked by a distinct minerality. The sun exposure on the hillsides promotes full ripening of the grapes, enhancing the characteristics of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Training system: Guyot.

Season in the field: Meticulous vineyard selection is followed by pre-destemming sorting and manual selection on the sorting table. The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit.

Average yield: Merlot 62 q/ha, Cabernet 43 q/ha.

Vinification

The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes undergo separate fermentation at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in tonneaux and oak barriques, followed by extended bottle aging.

Organoleptic aspects: Deep and dark in color. On the nose, it reveals notes of red fruit, spices, aromatic herbs, and vanilla. On the palate, the entry is fresh and silky tannic, with the excellent alcohol content creating a warm, smooth sensation that is perfectly balanced. The wine boasts great body and a long, persistent finish, leaving a satisfying closure.

Pairings

Pairs well with mildly spiced cured meats and roast meats. Surprisingly good with grilled red meats or stews. Excellent alongside medium to long-aged cheeses. Also ideal as a meditation wine, perfect for enhancing conversation and conviviality.

Alcohol content and serving temperature

Alcohol content: 15 % Vol.

Serving Temperature: 16 - 18°C.

Awards

BRONZE - Decanter World Wine Award 2022

GOLD – AWC Vienna 2022
