VIGNETI DELLE DOLOMITI IGT - NOSIOLA - TRENTINO

“La Nosiola” in Valle dei Laghi; “il Nosiola” in the rest of Trentino: this variety is undoubtedly the one Trentino winemakers are most fond of. The only indigenous white grape variety still cultivated, its austere nature, challenging to tame yet capable of revealing itself over time, symbolically reflects a facet of the character of the people from this rural land. In the mild and breezy climate of the Valle dei Laghi, Nosiola has found one of its ideal growing environments, becoming a symbol of the material culture and collective imagination of this region.

Grape variety

100% Nosiola.

Vineyards of origin

The family’s San Siro vineyards, sun-drenched and refreshed by the daily breezes that gently sweep through the Valle dei Laghi nested in between the Brenta Dolomites and Lake Garda.

Soil: On chalk-rich calcareous soils, Nosiola has found one of its ideal growing environments.

Training system: Guyot-trained espalier and Pergola Trentina, which represents the local tradition, providing natural protection to the clusters through its canopy, making it particularly suitable for the mild and breezy climate of the Valle dei Laghi.

Season in the field: The excellent climatic conditions ensured optimal phenological ripening, preserving aromatic precursors in the best possible way. This balance is beautifully reflected in the harmony between acidity and alcohol. The grapes, hand-harvested in crates, were picked at the middle of September.

Average yield: 50 q/ha.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in small stainless-steel vats, lasting approximately 15 days.

Aging: 5 months in stainless-steel, followed by 4 months in the bottle.

Organoleptic aspects

Straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose reveals aromas of apricot, elderflower, and white-fleshed fruit. On the palate, it stands out for its balance, with delightful minerality and savoriness. The finish is pleasantly bitter, with hints of hazelnut and almond.

Pairings

Pairs beautifully with all fish dishes. In Trentino tradition, it is a classic match with trout, alpine char, and whitefish, whose rich, fatty flesh finds the perfect balance in Nosiola. It also complements Nordic fish-based cuisine wonderfully.

Alcohol content and serving temperature

Alcohol content: 12% Vol.

Serving Temperature: 8 - 10 °C.
